BARRINGTON — The second annual fund drive in support of providing local middle school and high school students a positive role model from the ranks of collegians from the Durham campus is now underway.
Public participation in the support of LifeWise Community Project’s initiative, Wildcat Youth Mentors, is greatly needed for this coming school year, 2004-05, starting in September.
Prevention of high school dropouts is the absolute mission. New Hampshire is near the top of dropout ranking in the country.
In its second year, Wildcat Youth Mentors is a smart investment. Local teens "Students of Promise" at area middle schools/high schools are highly impacted by the positive role model influence of the collegiate mentors, all attending the University of New Hampshire in Durham and active alumni. One hundred percent of the contributions are applied to this cause. LifeWise is operated with a small staff of unpaid volunteers.
