WILDCAT YOUTH MENTORS - 2003 to present: "Mentoring to Success - Graduate from High School" is the mission of our School-Based Mentoring Program. Our mentors are volunteers from the University of New Hampshire, students and alumni. The UNH role models are of high morale character and prove to be reliable and accountable.
Local "Students of Promise" are being served at Barrington Middle, Dover Children's Home, Epping High, Newmarket Jr. High, Oyster River High, Seymour Osman Community Center and St.Mary Academy. Young teens are experiencing renewed self-esteem, socialization and academic/life enrichment visits from our adult members of Wildcat Youth Mentors.
NEW HAMPSHIRE OFFICE OF VOLUNTEERISM - 1998 to 2000: As an accommodation to the then Governor Jeanne Shaheen, our President & CEO, Bruce A. Montville EE went "on loan" for a two year appointment as Director, New Hampshire Office of Volunteerism. Montville became the catalyst, facilitator and resource for volunteerism.
He organized and raised funds for two consecutive Governor's Conferences on Volunteerism and coordinated and presented three annual Prudential Spirit of Community Award Ceremonies for NH students before the Governor and Executive Council. As Director, he became a keynote speaker honoring volunteer achievers at recognition events held by American Red Cross, NH Partners in Education, NH Public Television, State of NH and various other nonprofit organizations.

CAMP ALLEN - 2001 to present: LifeWise is acting as a catalyst,
facilitator and resource for volunteer manpower which is now being applied
to the rehabilitation of this 40 year old camp for the disabled. Camp Allen
is on 50 acres in Bedford, NH, with 14 buildings, serving a population
of of 350 during the summer months. To date, LifeWise has enlisted the
services of two volunteer groups to assist with "Rebuild For The Future."
They are Teamsters Local #633 of Manchester and Verizon's Telephone Pioneers
of MA, NH and NY.
GROUNDWATER EDUCATION -1999 to present: “Future Water Guardians
of NH” (FWGNH) was developed by LifeWise in 1999. This environmental education
program is funded by NH Dept. Environmental Services and NH Coastal Program
through 2004. This annual program is delivered to over 6000 elementary
& middle school students throughout NH. Trained volunteers explain
the Water Cycle, Watershed, Point Source & Nonpoint Source Pollution
and demonstrate the cause and effect of contamination in groundwater. Professional
Groundwater Models and Nonpoint Source (watershed) Models are used in the
classrooms, engaging individual student participation. FWGNH has become
a “Public Safety Initiative.” The EPA has recognized, Bruce A. Montville EE, our curriculum designer and Project Director
as their 2004 Environmental Educator (EE) of New England.
CITIZEN TO CITIZEN -1998 to 1999: LifeWise in partnership with the
NH Division of Adult & Elderly Services established a Volunteer Center
for Strafford County. This pilot program became very productive and successful
in meeting the assistance and socialization needs of elders and people
with disabilities in this thirteen-town region. An incentive of service
credits (NH Time Dollars) was applied to each volunteer in exchange for
their hours of volunteerism each month. A service credit is equivalent
to a single volunteer hour performed. The value of a service credit is
the right to receive an hour of volunteer service as a payback. While all
of our volunteers earned many service credits, most gave them away (gift
certificate vouchers) or held them for a "rainy day". Citizen to Citizen
administered NH Time Dollars and was able to deliver earned volunteer hours
through the cooperation of several service clubs. LifeWise believes that
the incentive of the NH Time Dollar program has great merit. We expect
to implement NHTD in future programs.
